how do i get my dogs to stop barking?

every time my dogs hear s noise if someone walks into the room, they bark like crazy. how do i get my dogs to Stop Barking at everything?

You have to teach them a command to stop. Use the same words every time. Something simple like "Quiet." Say it like you mean it, and as soon as they stop barking, praise them like crazy. Then distract them with something else so they don’t start barking again. A treat, a toy, something really fun. And remember, depending on what breed they are…some dogs are just barkers by nature.

I would suggest that you train them to go to a "special place" like a different room when you know someone’s about to come to the door or walk into the room and cause the dog to bark.

Another thing that you may want to try would be to reward your dog for not barking when someone enters the room with a small treat or something similar to that.

Good luck and I hope I helped you!

That’d be a bad idea, considering that there might be one time where you wished they had been barking(break in?)..

Let the dogs be dogs. If you didn’t want a dog that barks, then maybe you should’ve gotten a cat?

you could put a muzzle over their mouth so they can’t open it.

Humans have bred dogs to bark. When it becomes bothersome, we have no one to blame but ourselves. However, try this and see if it works. It worked for me in one day.

When the dog barks, get up and look outside the window they are looking out of. (If it happens to be a person coming into the roon, then just look at the person). Now causually tell your dog, ‘thank you, it has been taken care of’ or ‘thank you, I have it covered.’ Then go back to what you were doing. Be sure to use an authoritative voice – bigger and deeper than the voice you usually use.

The dog will get the message that what ever is going on outside or whoever is coming through the door is no big deal and will stop barking.

Your dogs want you to tell them what to do. you are their leader and want to please you. If you teach them to lie down on command, then you can make them do that when they are barking. After that they can be taught to just be quiet. The are too excited when a new person comes to around to be properly taught anything. They probably need to be taught individually since one will get the other too excited to learn. Training a dog can be tedious, but the dogs like obeying the commands once they learn them. You might do a little reading and research on what experienced trainers have found that works. Don’t be afraid to scold them suddenly, they won’t become afraid of you. They need to figure out what it is you really want.
